37th Annual Hawaii International Film Festival presented by Halekulani

HIFF37 presented by Halekulani is here! Taking place from November 2 through 12 on Oahu and November 16 – 19 on the Big Island and Kauai, HIFF37 presented by Halekulani is the premiere cultural event of the State of Hawaii and the film festival of record of cinematic works from the Asia-Pacific Rim including new films from indigenous cinema artists of the Pacific. A bridge between “East and West,” the Festival will screen 160 films from 45 countries — ranging from festival favorites from Sundance, Cannes, and Toronto (Gala Presentations), special sidebars on the environment (Green Screen), culinary cinema (Eat.Drink.Film.), Asian genre cinema (Fantastic Asia), and new animated features from Japan (Planet Anime). The Festival will also feature new works from Pacific Islander cinema artists (Pacific Showcase), and a newly minted competition section for locally-based films (Made in Hawaii). The mission of HIFF37 presented by Halekulani is to entertain, enlighten and inspire.

Under the Banyan Concert featuring Willie K

Location: Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa

The multiple Na Hoku Hanohano award-winning artist Willie K returns to the Moana Surfrider for a much-anticipated concert in the oceanfront Banyan Courtyard.

Affectionately known in the islands as Uncle Willie, his distinctive sound combines Hawaiian, jazz and blues that delights audiences around the world.

Please join us for a magical evening of music under the banyan tree.

Concert time is from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
• Veranda dinner seating is at 6:00 pm

Love of Libations: Bourbon, Whiskey and Rye

Location: Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa

Moana Surfrider presents Love of Libations, a Crafted at Westin signature series inspired the local tradition of pau hana (happy hour). Each LOL features a sampling of thoughtfully selected beverages whose unique backgrounds, ingredients and special characteristics are highlighted to later be share with family and friends. Questions and discussion are welcome in this casual, interactive setting.

Held on the outdoor veranda of Vintage 1901 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm, LOL guests will learn, sip and experience while enjoying cool breezes and ocean views— the best way to start the weekend.
