Season Three opens with a dancin’ party! DANCING THROUGH THE DECADES, PART TWO, the sequel to our season one finale show, builds on that same concept, with music starting with the big band era and culminating with today’s most current hits, only with a totally brand new collection of popular songs. This time Henry Kapono, Amy Hanaial’l and Aidan James will join us to sing some of their favorite pop songs as well! It’s an evening of dancing, drink, and fun as only Matt and the Hawaii Pops can present.

This year we celebrate Frank Sinatra’s 100th Birthday, and who better to join the Pops than Jimmy Borges, Hawaii’s greatest interpreter of the Sinatra songbook. It was Sinatra himself who allowed Jimmy the use of the actual arrangements that were written for Ol’ Blue Eyes, and Jimmy and the Hawaii Pops are proud to perform many of these as well as other great songs from this bygone era.

Hawaii’s own Latin and Pop super-singer Christina Souza joins Matt and the Pops for an unforgettable evening of dancing and great music.

Presenting one of the most unique programs anywhere. Combining the elements of classical music with high-energy jazz & pop, this program has it all. In a “concert” style 1st half we feature Matt Catingub’s THREE SHADES OF BLUE, A CONCERTO FOR VIOLIN, JAZZ TRIO, AND ORCHESTRA and featuring Violin Virtuoso Amy Schwartz-Moretti, and in a “dance” style 2nd half where the orchestra cuts loose with familiar classical melodies that morph into full-on high energy arrangements that will have you moving! All-in-all a cutting-edge program that presents “classical” music in a new and fun light! Second half features popular Broadway and local star Loretta Ables-Sayre.

Hawaii Pops is proud to present the world orchestra premiere of The BLUE SKY RIDERS. Pop Music legend Kenny Loggins teams up with Nashville singer/songwriters Georgia Middleman, & Gary Burr to present a fantastic new group and new sound in contemporary Country music. Matt Catingub will be creating all of the orchestra arrangements especially for this first performance. This very special season finale concert will also feature Matt & the orchestra performing some of the great contemporary country hits of the past few years.
